- TriviaAt the time that the episode was produced, new, more stringent censorship laws had been put in place. As a result, the Fox network tried to stop the writers from including Itchy & Scratchy cartoons in episodes. In response, the writers created this episode, which they decided would be as violent as possible. The network threatened that if the episode was produced, they would cut the Itchy & Scratchy parts out themselves, but relented when David Mirkin threatened to tell the media. The writers nevertheless promised to try not to overdo the violence.
- GoofsIn 'Itchy and Scratchy Land', Cletus takes a picture of one of the robots at the parade, the old lady next to him changes from black to white between shots.

[at Itchy & Scratchy Land]
Park Announcer: Attention, Marge Simpson. Your son has been arrested.
Woman: I'd be terribly embarrassed if I was that boy's mother.
Marge: Mmmmm...
Park Announcer: Attention, Marge Simpson. We've also arrested your older, balder, fatter son.
Marge: Mmmmmmm...
- Alternate versionsThe Season 6 episode "Itchy and Scratchy Land" was heavily censored in Australia, and was not shown in full until 1999. Shots cut included crowds laughing as blood poured over them, Bart smashing a second camera shop window and several cut scenes from when The Simpsons take the 'Log Ride'. About a dozen censored scenes reduced the running time of the episode by two minutes down to 21 minutes.

Your older, balder, fatter son
The Simpsons go to Itchy & Scratchy Land.
This is a classic episode with some great parody and memorable moments.
The best aspect is the Disneyland parody which takes a number of humorous swipes that the park. My favourites include the Itchy & Scratchy money, New Year's Eve, Homer's and Bart's interaction with the costumed characters and the tightly controlled nature of the park.
When things go wrong at the park, it's part of an ongoing Michael Crichton tribute throughout the episode. If you are a fan of Westworld and Jurassic Park you should love these moments. There are other strong movie tributes such as Fantasia and Pinocchio, which for me are two of the funniest Itchy & Scratchy sketches ever produced. I also enjoyed The Birds spoof with Hans Moleman.
