[after the case is wrapped up, Don walks into the house to clear the air with his father]
Don Eppes : Look, you know, I'm aware that the Bureau has some bad history.
Alan Eppes : Is that an apology?
Don Eppes : I'm just saying, it was a different time, you know? And I know that.
Alan Eppes : Donnie, I'm the same guy I was then. I still believe in the same things.
Don Eppes : Yeah, well, good.
[Charlie enters, but sits hidden at the top of the stairs, just listening in. Alan tosses down his newspaper and sighs at Don]

Don Eppes : Where did I go wrong?
Alan Eppes : ...Honestly, yes. Because I thought you wanted to do something as different from Charlie and the rest of us as possible.
Don Eppes : No. I knew it was something I was going to be good at.
Alan Eppes : And you are.
Don Eppes : Yeah.

Don Eppes : And, you know, look, I didn't have to read the file, okay? Cuz I knew that, ultimately, I would respect anything that you or Mom were involved with.
[Alan and Don exchange a look, and Alan nods, satisfied. Then, after a moment...]
Don Eppes : ...Commie.
Alan Eppes : G-man.
[Don grins and laughs, Alan asks where they're going to dinner, and Charlie bounds down the stairs, happy to join them at the new Italian place]
Alan Eppes : Hey, at least it's good to know when it comes to food, you're still both your father's sons.
