Brotherly Love
Now that David (as David Nelson) and Ricky (as Ricky Nelson) are getting older, they are getting on each other's nerves. David wants to go out the movies with the guys, and he doesn't want little Ricky tagging along. In their bedroom at night, David listens to the radio under a pillow while Ricky reads comic books with a flashlight. Ozzie (as Ozzie Nelson) and Harriet (as Harriet Nelson) want their sons to get along, but finally decide to allow them their own "space." Ricky is allowed to move into the attic. Eventually, misunderstandings find Ozzie relocated to the den...
Ozzie and Harriet share the same bed in this episode, which was unusual for TV's married couples in the 1950s.
In the opening scenes, Rick's bruised face is a major distraction. Probably, he was in some scrape-up during taping. They decided to go on with the taping and ignore the matter. Since the scrapes come and go during the same scene, they would have had to re-shoot much. Listen as Ozzie mentions his real-life brother Al (the boys' "Uncle Al") and he had separate rooms. Not a real life relative, the hard-of-hearing "Aunt" Ellen (Corby) briefly calls, to move the plot along. Later, the Nelsons say their "Goodnights" in a prescient satire of Ms. Corby's later series, "The Waltons".
