Sex & Nudity

  • There is a bit of non-sexual nudity.
  • A woman is topless for an entire scene. (Non sexual)
  • Very brief a couple is shown having sex. Bare breasts are shown.
  • Brief glimpses of breasts.
  • A man is seen floating in a river while fully nude and his pubic hair can be seen.
  • Two men drive by a nudist camp, where several people are seen completely naked. Two fully nude women are seen walking, their genitals and pubic region are clearly visible. This is brief.
  • A teenage girl is sitting on a bed only in her undershirt and thick panties as she tells a young man that her parents aren't home, implying her intent to have sex with him. He refuses because she is underage asking her how old she is, but she tries to lie about her age.

Violence & Gore

  • Chris gets beaten up by a railroad guard, who issues a death threat. He is later seen with a black eye and bloody lip.
  • Kevin gets smacked in the face at a bar. (not really violent).
  • Also very intense and bloody scene was when Chris shoots a moose and cut it into pieces with a knife. This scene is very graphic and realistic, with realistic sounds and gore as he cuts it up and tries to cook it.

Profanity

  • 13 uses of "fuck", 5 uses of "shit", 1 slang term using male genitals ("pricks"), 1 use of "ass."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A couple is shown smoking weed.
  • There are two scenes that are in a bar. One involves Chris and Wayne being drunk.
  • There are hippies that are referenced as "dope smokers" and are seen smoking for a couple of seconds.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When Chris is beaten up on the railroad it is pretty intense, and could upset sensitive people.
  • Flashbacks show Chris' dysfuntional family life include parents yelling, as well as grabbing each other. Can be quite intense

Violence & Gore

  • Chris accidentally eats a poisonous plant after mistaking it for a different one, he attempts to vomit it out, but to no avail and ends up starving to death. This scene is more emotional than graphic.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The last 10 minutes of the movie is very intense and upsetting. Chris gets sick and eventually starves to death. You see him progressively get thinner and weaker, and eventually he delivers his last line of dialogue and cries and screams. This is the most intense and emotional scene.
