Very Sad Tale
Hitchcoc4 February 2020
When an old friend and his daughter show up at Charlie's place, something is wrong. The daughter is distraught and the man is drinking like a fish. Meanwhile, the police are searching for the killers of a baby found on the steps of a church. This is one of those episodes that make one sick inside.

Warning: Spoilers
When a dead baby is left behind in a box outside a church.

Suspicion falls on a group of pagans led by a respected doctor.

Maybe the baby was a sacrifice. The search for the baby's parents prove to be fruitless.

Just maybe the baby was from outside of Cornwall.

Wycliffe also has guests who have come to stay. Bill Hewton and his teenage daughter.

Something is troubling them and it looks like marital trouble. Bill is hitting the booze hard.

Wycliffe had to deal with troubles closer to home.

A sad troubling story about teenage pregnancy. How a young girl just wants to go back to things as they were.

The pagan part was a nice red herring. I did wonder if Wycliffe would had cracked the case but for the initial confession made to him.

I was also surprised that he knew nothing about the two middle aged people of his acquaintance had a baby.
