- GoofsBeatrix is shown at Hill Top Farm in the Lake District, writing the story of Peter Rabbit for the first time for her young friend Noel who was ill. In reality, she wrote that story many years before for young Noel, and it was the publishing of the story that allowed her to buy Hill Top Farm.
- Quotes
Benjamin Bunny: Well what luck. The McGregors are going out. I've better find Peter, though I don't really want to see Aunt Josephine. Anyway, I'd probably only spill things or break something.
[Benjamin goes to Peters tree house and looks at Peters mother and his 3 sisters. Then he climbs the tree trunk, jumps down and sees Peter Rabbit in a pocket handkerchief]
Benjamin Bunny: Goodness Peter. What's you think, who's got your clothes?
Peter Rabbit: The scarecrow in Mr. McGregors garden and if you're going to laugh. Mr. McGregor nearly caught me, but I was only looking around. Maybe I tasted a few things. But you should've seen him.
[Benjamin Bunny giggles]
Benjamin Bunny: No no. That's what I came to tell you. Mr. McGregor has gone out in a gig and Mrs. McGregor and for the whole day. And I'm sure she was wearing her best hat.
[Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny both go on a walk in the forest]
Peter Rabbit: Well I hope it rains.
- Alternate versionsThe Abby Home Media DVD release has slightly edited just after Mr Bouncer locked the cat in the shed. In the original Mr Bouncer holds them up by the ears and then used the the cane he has in his hands on both Peter and Benjamin and while the DVD jumps from Mr Bouncer starting to say "and let me assure you this doesn't hurt me more than it hurts you." but cuts after he has said "and let" to after it. Making the cut about 12 seconds long.

Song by Miriam Stockley
Although only nine of Beatrix Potter's timeless stories were adapted for the show, a shame that not all of them were, 'The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends' are wonderful and very faithful adaptations of Potter's stories (plus the animation is just like Potter's drawings, Potter was just as outstanding an artist as she was a storyteller).
It is tough to pick a favourite usually, and while this reviewer loves all the episodes "The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny" as well as my introduction to the show has always been my personal favourite (Peter Rabbit is also my favourite of her stories too). "The Tailor of Gloucester" is not far behind.
"The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny" looks exquisite visually. Not just the animation, which are as said like Potter's illustrations come to life, being colourful, quaintly charming and carefully drawn, but also the charming and exquisitely book-end live action scenes complete with splendid period detail and just as breathtaking scenery. The music is one of the episode's most memorable assets, especially the opening scene, the main theme, the music where Peter, Benjamin and Benjamin's father are walking home after being rescued and reprimanded and particularly "Perfect Day" which lives up to its name and is beautifully sung by Miriam Stockley.
Dialogue is beautifully written and again sticks very closely to the writing of the stories, almost word for word actually. The story never rushes or drags, remarkable for an episode with two stories in one, and is beautifully told. One is also really immersed in the world of Beatrix Potter as well, a world that is just wondrous. All the characters are unforgettable, and are nimbly voiced, June Whitfield being the biggest name. Niamh Cusack is perfectly cast also as Beatrix Potter herself.
Overall, just wonderful and Beatrix Potter would be proud if she saw this episode and the show in its entirety. 10/10 Bethany Cox
