I think the number of laughs in "Christmas at Bayview" has about the same number of laughs you'd see in a normal length episode. However, it's a double-length episode and the episode is good but also meanders a bit.
Harvey 'Idiot' Baines has taken the entertainment funds for the retirement home's Christmas party and spent them on an expensive designer jacket. Tom and Diana suspect this and decide to take on Harvey in a VERY funny scene...and he admits that he took the money.
As for the Christmas season, Diana is as grouchy as usual and even attacks a poor mall Santa! Tom, on the other hand, thinks it's important to do something to help others and he invites a homeless couple to stay at Bayview. However, there are a lot of prejudices about the homeless and their welcome is less than welcome.
As I said above, there are less laughs in this episode and much of it is because the homeless couple portion isn't meant to be funny but a comment about Christmas and Christianity. Well made and worth seeing...just not among the funnier installments of "Waiting for God".
