Cleopatra and the Sultan of Swat
bkoganbing4 March 2019
This episode is yet another favorite of mine as Jon-Erik Hexum and Meeno Peluce almost mess up history instead of correcting it.

It all starts when the Voyagers arrive in Rome 44 BC on those Ides of March and Julius Caesar has been assassinated. They arrive at Cleopatra's residence and whisk Andrea Marcovicci away. But they also whisk her into the 20th century and deposit here in New York City 1927.

But Cleo in New York isn't all that's wrong. Baseball fan and Little Leaguer Meeno Peluce notes there is no Yankee Stadium. The Yanks are playing at the Polo Grounds and a perennial second division team. All because Babe Ruth was never sold to them and he finished his career with the Red Sox in 1922.

Now that is a number one priority and the guys go back to 1919 Red Sox spring training where Bogg learns to pitch and Jeffrey Jones teaches the Babe how to hit the long ball.

Now to get Cleo back to her time and while in New York she's become a flapper and caught the eye of the up and coming Lucky Luciano played here by Michael Gregory. Now there is a Yankee Stadium, the House that Ruth Built and he's closing in on 60 home runs. But Lucky Luciano has some heavy action that he won't make it and he's got the biggest vamp in history working on the Babe to make it not so. William Lucking plays the gullible Ruth who wouldn't have turned down Cleopatra here or in real life.

As any baseball fans knows Babe Ruth was already hitting home runs and playing part time in the outfield to keep his bat in the lineup. But a lie or two makes this a fun episode.
