Just the Job
Prismark1031 August 2023
The British version of Who's the Boss. The first episode sees ex soccer player and single parent Charlie Burrows (Joe McGann) and his daughter Joanna (Kellie Bright) up sticks from Inner London.

They head to the leafy suburbs of Henley-on-Thames to be a male housekeeper for divorced ad executive Caroline Wheatley. Only this is all news to her, as Charlie was engaged by her mother, man mad Laura (Honor Blackman.)

Charlie manages to make headway with Caroline's reptile living so, Tom.

The first episode manages to quickly establish a will they/won't then chemistry between the main characters.

The main plot though is dreary. Caroline is in line for a promotion, she nearly sleeps with her boss, who then invites her out for his country retreat. Charlie tells her that she needs to look that she won the promotion on her own merit.

Even in 1990 when there was a woman Prime Minister, I expected something better than that. You get the air that Caroline is not that sharp an executive.
