The Ides of March
Prismark102 February 2024
Senna the Soothsayer is going round shouting beware The Ides of March.

As Lurcio is attempting to give his prologue. Some men are quietly creeping into Senator Ludicrus Sextus house.

There is a plot in motion to kill Julius Caesar as he arrives to visit Pompeii. Lurcio has drawn the long straw but no one knows just what Caesar looks like.

It turns out the Emperor Caesar looks just like Lurcio. Ammonia arrives hoping for a little horseplay with Caesar.

While Ponderous ponders if there is a threat to kill the Emperor. He should swap him with Lurcio, who looks just like him.

A bawdy romp. Some of the high brow stuff goes over the audience as Frankie Howerd notes. The lowbrow stuff works well.

Howerd also manages to get in some jokes about the economy of the era. Kerbs on everything, even the pavement.
