This is the seventh of eight appearances Grant Richards makes in the series. For most of these appearances, he takes on the persona of different characters. In three of his appearances, this not being one of them, he plays the hoodlum Frankie Resko.
This is the third of three appearances Robert J. Wilke makes in the series. Throughout his acting career, he usually played the heavies and his performances in this series are no exception. In this episode, as well as in his second appearance in Arsenal (1962) from season three, he plays gangster Bugs Moran. In his first appearance in Stranglehold (1961) from season two, he plays another notable hoodlum: Dutch Schultz.
Eddie calls his mother 'Mother Mahcree', an allusion to the song of that title about the undying love and indebtedness a son feels for his Irish mother. The song was written by Rida Johnson Young, Chauncey Olcott, and Ernest Ball for the Broadway show "Barry of Ballymore" and first published in 1910. It was used as the basis for the titles of two silent movies, i.e. Mother Machree (1922) and Mother Machree (1927).
This is the second of two episodes Meg Wyllie makes in the series. She is perhaps best remembered for her role as one of the Keepers in the pilot episode The Cage (1966) for the classic sci-fi series Star Trek (1966).
This is the only appearance Mike Connors in the series. By the end of the 1960s, he would be the titular star of his own long-running detective series: Mannix (1967).
