Mitchell Shigemoto and Jim Pearson

Warning: Spoilers
I saw several Unsolved Mystery episodes, and this one really stood out when I saw it back in 1994, being 30 years ago. The story of Mitchell Shigemoto and Jim Pearson, demonstrated the bonds of friendship over racism during the Vietnam War. The racism that Mitchell, a proud American of Japanese descent, experienced at the hands of some white US soldiers in Vietnam (remember that Mitchell signed up to fight against the Vietnamese) was awful and hypocritical simply because Mitchell "looked like the enemy". Like really, during world war two, did white US soldiers display racism towards fellow US soldiers who looked like Germans (well really most did!). It's wonderful to know that Mitchell's quest to reunite with Jim was solved.

It happened that retired Lt. Col. Truman Plants, managed to locate Pearson. Weeks later, James reunited with Mitchell. I love it when Unsolved Mysteries solves a mystery.
