• David Gebhardt : [about the Time Tunnel telling him that Jeremiah's clock is a bomb]  They said it was a bomb.

  Matthew Gebhardt : No such thing, David.

  David Gebhardt : One of the men said it would explode, but I stopped it with a funny-looking tool.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : What man? What man are you talking about?

  David Gebhardt : One of the men in the cave.

  David Gebhardt : I found the clock. Then all of a sudden, it was like I was in a big thunderstorm, and then the next thing, I was standing in some sort of cave and everybody wanted me to come out.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : What kind of lying gibberish is this?

  David Gebhardt : I ain't lyin'.

• Jeremiah Gebhardt : [about Tony, who has escaped from being tied up by Matt and Jerimiah]  He's gone.

  [He and Matt walk over to the toppled chair] 

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : If he got to the depot, he might've taken Lincoln out of danger.

  Matthew Gebhardt : What about David? Maybe he took David with him.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : That bomb should've gone off by now. He stopped it. He stopped the bomb. Why didn't you let me kill him?

  [Running footsteps approach the house. David enters, having just come back from a scary experience] 

  David Gebhardt : Matt! Jeremiah!

  [Matt hugs David to comfort him] 

  Matthew Gebhardt : Sit down.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : Where have you been?

  David Gebhardt : I went down to the depot to find you. I saw the man who escaped. I ran to tell you, and then I found your clock.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : The clock? You found the clock? What did you do with it?

  Matthew Gebhardt : Leave him be, Jeremiah.

• Matthew Gebhardt : [Tony is pacing back and forth]  Will you sit down, please? You're making me nervous.

• Jeremiah Gebhardt : What did you with the clock, David?

  David Gebhardt : I told ya. I stopped it. Then I was in another storm and right back near the depot. That's the truth.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : Where is the clock David? Just tell me where it is.

  David Gebhardt : I left it, down near the horse through.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : All right. You're gonna take me...

  David Gebhardt : No. They said it was a bomb. It might explode.

  Matthew Gebhardt : You wanna get caught, and David with ya? Let's get away.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : I gotta get that.

  Matthew Gebhardt : No. No. We failed. Maybe it's a good thing.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : You give up mighty easily, Matt. I'm gonna get on that train and plant that bomb. I don't need your help. I can kill Lincoln by myself.

  David Gebhardt : [shocked by what Jeremiah had just said]  You wanna kill Lincoln?

  Matthew Gebhardt : No. He doesn't mean it, David

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : No. He's old enough to know. Someday you'll understand. Someday the whole nation'll be proud of your brother.

  Matthew Gebhardt : That's all it is to you, isn't it, Jeremiah? Honor? People cheerin' at ya! Your wanting to kill Lincoln has nothing do with our cause, nothin' to do with what we believe!

  [Jeremiah slaps Matt and walks out of the house. Matt walks after Jeremiah, David follows] 

• Jeremiah Gebhardt : [picks up his rifle after fighting Doug]  All right! Get back! Don't take another step, neither one of you. I came here to kill Lincoln, and if i have to get you too, I'll do it.

  Matthew Gebhardt : Well, then, you're gonna have to kill me too.

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : Don't make me kill you, Matt.

  Matthew Gebhardt : Kill me. GO ON, JEREMIAH! KILL ME!

  [Jeremiah hesitates] 

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : [cries softly]  I can't.

  [pasue] 

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : I can't, Matt.

  [pause] 

  Jeremiah Gebhardt : [sighs]  Maybe killin' Lincoln's not the way.

  [Doug grabs the bomb and throws it to an empty spot near the depot. It goes off, harming no one. Lincoln's train leaves] 

  Matthew Gebhardt : Come on, Jeremiah. Let's go home. David's waiting.
