The lawbreaker and the lady.

Warning: Spoilers
It's New York society meets Billy the Kid in the wild West, a far way from Park Avenue in this comedy western episode of the anthology series Stage 7. Having gone from featured performer in MGM "A" films, Angela Lansbury was in a slump, and it would take a decade to bring her genuine fame through the Broadway stage. But in between came a string of programmers and appearances on T.V. shows like this, and some of them are pretty good.

Starting off in New York where Lansbury meets westerner Dick Foran, it quickly moves out west when she becomes his bride. She's got a lot to learn, and in this period version of "The Egg and I", she's as green as Claudette was, yet also a bit of "Green Acres" Eva Gabor as well. Handsome Hugh O'Brien is Billy the Kid, interrupting her bath and later teaching her how to shoot, all while Foran is out on a posse hunting for him! This is entertaining, if forced, and doesn't really have a conclusion. Lansbury's enthusiasm makes this fun, and O'Brian is a treat to look at.

Fun Installment

I recently purchased a DVD called 'The Golden Age of TV Westerns' and this episode starring Hugh O'Brian, Angela Lansbury and Dick Foran was included in the pack, the reason I bought it really! since I am a huge Lansbury fan, and these Live TV Drama's she did are kind of hard to come by. This one was a pretty funny one actually, which I didn't expect at all, the plot sounded sort of serious! but the content is almost borderline slapstick really! Angela gets to show off her comedy chops here very well as Vanessa Peters, Hugh O'Brian is a sure looker, and also delivers some comedy goods! the scenes with them together in the house are priceless IMO, so if you can get yourself a copy of the above DVD or can see this in some other format, I'd recommend it, the DVD was pretty cheap. The Quality isn't the best, but it didn't bother me!

Fun Comedy!
