The fourth series and Timothy sticks out like a sore thumb when he picks Sharon a young tearaway running away from her abusive father.
While Timothy goes to pick up some overdue library books. Sharon goes off to see live with some other youngsters in a squat.
After discussing the situation with the local barmaid, he goes off to see Sharon in the squat and maybe persuade her to go home. Only to land in the pond when he is dragged out by the other squatters for being an interfering busybody.
Meanwhile Mrs Lumsden has gone upmarket. She is upset that other neighbours are getting burgled but the Lumsden household has been left alone. She also wants Timothy to eat his dinner which is in the form of curried pie, something he has been avoiding.
Given Timothy is henpecked by his mother, cannot stand up to her and is a fortysomething living at home. I don't think he is the one suitable to give advice to someone running away from an abusive household.
It is a weak opener, the writing about social issues is blunt. It is showing signs of a sitcom whose premise is now tired.
