"The Blind Mellow Jelly Collection" continues the third season's winning streak of instant classics, another get rich quick scheme undone by sheer stupidity. Cleaning out the closet becomes a treasure trove of nostalgia, as Fred spends the afternoon listening to his collection of old 78 records by Blind Mellow Jelly, from his early days courting Elizabeth, as 'Ready Freddy and Busy Lizzie': "take that beer and mix it with the wine, and call it Top and Bottom, you drink a quart of that you wouldn't know your top from your bottom!" Lamont is all set to use it to bring in a nice tax deduction by donating them to the local university of Mr. Archibald (Bryan O'Byrne). Once Fred learns that the collection is worth $500, he has Bubba help him try to recover the old 78s, wearing dark glasses and pretending to be the son of Blind Mellow Jelly: "I want my daddy's records!" Fred's explanation is a bit convoluted: "his father, Blind Mellow Jelly, gave Leadbelly the name Leadbelly, and then Leadbelly carried on the tradition by giving Blind Mellow Jelly's son his nickname, uh, Pot Belly!"
