The Saint is hired by British Intelligence to allow the Russians to pay him to "spring" Russian agent Mr Spring, in the middle of his trial. Lots of double-bluff and possible triple agenting. The Russians' method of people smuggling is borrowed from Margery Allingham (More Work for the Undertaker), and Simon quotes a line from the 50s movie 23 Paces to Baker Street: "Not afraid of the dark, are you?" An excellent, exciting episode, with impressive switches of personnel and disguises. Remember when you could park right outside Tesco's? I didn't know they even had Tesco's in the early 60s. Xxxxxxx.
