Rumpole is seen on a London street, passing a pub called the Edgar Wallace. The pub, on Essex Street, is named for one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century. Wallace is best known as the creator of King Kong. He was a foreign correspondent in Africa, a poet and wrote 18 plays, 957 short stories, and more than 170 novels. His works have been the basis for more than 200 films and television programs, and his books have sold over 50 million copies.
