The Roy Rogers Show: Mayor of Ghost Town is another good old-fashioned episode
tavm26 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
A young woman from Conneticut named Betty Arnold has arrived in Dale's Eureka Cafe seeking her father, Peter Arnold, who has made himself mayor of Red Dog, a nearby ghost town. Mayor Arnold is trying to fix the town so it could attract new tourists and tenants. Naturally, there are some outlaws trying to keep that from happening. Throughout, Pat Brady tries to win the bet on the black pea-in-a walnut game with Roy, Dale, the Arnolds, and various guests but keeps failing at almost every turn. Another funny and action-packed episode to keep the young 'uns and parents entertained. Worth seeing for fans of Roy and Dale and anyone interested in good old-fashioned westerns of yore.

The Old Shell Game
hogwrassler3 September 2020
Betty Arnold arrives in Mineral City from way way back east. She wants to go to Red Dog. The problem is that Red Dog is a ghost town. Betty's father, Peter Arnold, has named himself mayor and is trying to revive the town but doesn't know that some outlaws, including a disbarred lawyer, are also claiming title to the town. It seems the railroad wants to put in a switch yard in Red Dog. It's up to Roy, Dale, Pat, Bullet, and the sheriff to help out. Pat provides comedy by trying out the old shell game on everyone. He is surprised that everyone seems to know which shell the pea is hidden under. Even Bullet beats him! More comedy is provided by Frances Conley playing Betty. Her attempts at a back east accent that sound somewhat British are quite a hoot. Frances also appeared on the show in The Milliner from Medicine Creek episode. She used her own normal voice in that one and came off much better. This is a good episode that features some fairly smart bad guys.
