Throughout the series, the theme song was a tune played on the harmonica. It wasn't until the last season words were put to it. The singer is John Popper of the band Blues Traveler, who previously appeared in the episode "Of Mice and Dan". In the series finale the song was sung slower and by another person. The lyrics are: If what doesn't kill us Is making us stronger. We're gonna last longer Than the greatest wall in China Or that rabbit with a drum. If it's one thing that I've learned While waiting for my turn, It's that in each life some rain falls, But you also get some sun. And we'll make out better than okay. Hear what I say? Yeah, any day. (laugh)
Once Dan comes off the stage, and he is with Roseanne at the bar and the camera starts to pull out of the shot, the song John Popper and the Blues Travelers start to play is entitled Run-Around, which was also written by John Popper.
Dan's old band is portrayed by members of the band Blues Traveler. Blues Traveler subsequently appeared with John Goodman in 'Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)' and on a 1998 episode of '"The Roseanne Show' (1997)'.
