"The Legacy" is another jewel in a stellar series, which begins with Johnny Yuma losing his watch, while the man who swiped it (Robert Hutton, previously seen in "Dark Secret") telegraphs a mysterious message confirming that "candidate approaches." On the outskirts of the next town, Johnny comes upon the shack of an old man (Jon Lormer, previously seen in "Night on a Rainbow"), whose dying wish is for Yuma to deliver a valuable diamond to his 8 year old grandson, currently living with another family in Mecca City. Johnny decides to ask the sheriff for directions, only to have the lawman (James Chandler, in his fourth of five) promptly arrest him for the murder of the diamond's previous owner. Johnny then finds his defense attorney to be the sheriff's brother (Paul Picerni, last of three), the prosecutor a second brother (the man that stole Yuma's watch), and the presiding judge to be father to all three; worst of all, the judge turns out to be the same dying man who first gave him the diamond! The watch is key to a swift conviction, yet hours before he is to be hanged, Johnny is set free by the judge and his sons, who are later stunned to find the escaped prisoner back in his cell, unwilling to leave before clearing his name. So many wonderful twists and turns, and a short cameo from Soupy Sales, unrecognizable as a stable owner who shods Yuma's horse, soon to be seen in a larger role in "The Hope Chest" (William Harlow makes the fifth of seven appearances).
