- Lizzie Birdsworth: How'd the screws get onto you, love?
- Maxine Daniels: Well the Freak reckons Bea lagged.
- Lizzie Birdsworth: Awww, Bea wouldn't lag!
- Meg Morris: Still can't believe Bea would have lagged on Maxine. Must've been a joke or something.
- Colleen Powell: Yeah. Well of course that's possible but Daniels seemed genuine enough. I'll talk to Smith.
- Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson: She's on kitchen duty.
- Meg Morris: Is she? I was in there before the break and she wasn't there.
- Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson: Well that's where she's supposed to be.
- Colleen Powell: I don't like the sound of this.
- Meg Morris: Neither do I. We'd better find her quick.
- Colleen Powell: An immediate head count. Come on.
- Meg Morris: I can't help feeling glad that Joan has slipped up, and by falling for one of Bea's tricks.
- [Joan enters and goes to her locker]
- Meg Morris: [to Colleen] Hope Douglas thinks twice about her efficiency now.
- Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson: I'll be at home if you need me. Otherwise I'll see you in the morning.
- Colleen Powell: Bye
- [Joan leaves]
- Colleen Powell: Yes, Meg, she did hear that.
- Meg Morris: She knows what I think of her. She also knows I'm right about what the department will have to say.
- Lizzie Birdsworth: I reckon McKenzie's right. She's gone, Maxie.
- Maxine Daniels: Why would she change her mind?
- Lizzie Birdsworth: You just think about it. You just think about the last few months; ever since that bloody Ferguson turned up. She fought for us over her. She even stuffed up her own parole. And what did we do in return? Nothin'. Every time the Freak waved a few fags or a bit of grog in our faces we fell for it. Bea must have been through hell.
- Maxine Daniels: But she's still top dog around here, Lizzie.
- Lizzie Birdsworth: What's the point of that if she hasn't got our support? She told us we could look after ourselves from now on. And if she's gone, and I reckon she might've, I don't blame her one little bit. Because it's all our fault, Maxie. We've pushed her out.
