Twiggy (playing Max's sister Jocelyn) and Leigh Lawson (playing Lester the driver) are married in real-life.
Maxwell's sister is played by 1960's iconic model Twiggy who is Fran Drescher's friend and former co-worker. It was in part Drescher 's interaction with Twiggy's children that started the concept of "The Nanny", but the general premise and a few titles are similar to 'Who's the Boss? (1984)', in which Drescher appeared twice. Both sitcoms shared common writers, several guest actors and crew.
Maxwell and Jocelyn's brother is also named 'Nigel' (Harry Van Gorkum), the same name as Jocelyn's fiancé (Lane Davies).
The title is based on the musical 'Stop the World - I Want to Get Off' with book, music, and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley.
