- Brighton Sheffield: [Fran is helping Brighton study for an exam] I don't need to be a genius. I'm gonna be a producer, like Dad.
- [Seeing his father glaring at him, Brighton looks around the room]
- Brighton Sheffield: Who said that?
- Maureen Wentworth: What a lovely artifact. Is it Mayan?
- Fran Fine: [pointing to Maxwell] No. It's his'n.
- Chastity Claire 'C.C.' Babcock: [sarcastically] My fears are allayed. Maggie's social future rests securely in your capable hands.
- Fran Fine: [after C.C. leaves the room] Oh, at least her fears are getting allayed.
- Fran Fine: It also helps to unite against a common enemy... a good choice would be your P.E. teacher.
- Margaret 'Maggie' Sheffield: You make it sound like a war.
- Fran Fine: It's worse. War is just hell. This is high school.
- Fran Fine: Come on, Gracie, we're going to the park.
- Grace Sheffield: I'm a little anxious about this whole kite thing.
- Fran Fine: Why, sweetie? We're gonna have fun.
- Grace Sheffield: What if I let go of the string and lose it? I'm not good with separations.
- Fran Fine: You're not gonna lose it. A kite is like a really cute guy. You give him some slack, let him fly free. Then at the end of the day, you yank his string and reel him back in.
- Grace Sheffield: And then hang him on a hook until you wanna use him again.
- Fran Fine: And I'm teaching you?
- Maggie Sheffield: Excuse me, but does anyone care how I feel about this?
- Brighton Sheffield: [Sarcastically] I know I don't.
- C.C. Babcock: [Pompously] Oh, you'll love it. I was a debutante. It's the only way to meet the right people, make the right connections. Marry the right man...
- Grace Sheffield: But you never got married.
- Niles: [Triumphant, whispers to Grace] Good one.
- Maggie Sheffield: I don't want to be a deb.
- Maxwell Sheffield: But, sweetheart, it might help you come out of your shell.
- Maggie Sheffield: I like my shell.
- Brighton Sheffield: If you get real close to Maggie, you can hear the ocean.
- Fran Fine: You know, I agree with Miss Babcock.
- [Everybody looks taken aback]
- Fran Fine: I know, it was an ugly shock to me, too!
