Narrator: The earth spinning around the sun produced the first drama: death in winter, rebirth in spring. The word "drama" means "a thing done." The worshipers of Dionysus went to the theater to get something done, not just for entertainment: to ask for more sun, more rain, more fish out of the sea; or to be made the victors in a coming battle; or to be made healthy, holy, immortal, and/or successful in love, and/or to win the favor of the powerful gods in the unending battle to survive against those gods with malice toward Man.
First, she defends two guys who got a man critically injured in an automobile accident. Next, while having lunch with Flint, she light-heartedly points out a waiter/server who helps a thief avoid paying his lunch bill in a restaurant. The server, played by a young Martin Sheen, gives a full meal to his pal, then only charges him for a cup of coffee. This is obviously a daily occurrence, since Libby knows their game. Libby thinks that this is great, and justifies it by stating that the free-loader is hungry and cannot pay. Flint steps in, he demands that the bill be paid in full, but then Flint himself pays it. If Flint is such a great cop, why wouldn't he dump thief-supporter Libby?
To make it worse, Libby later sits at a lunch table with Lt. Parker, Detective Arcaro, and of course Flint, and continues to justify the illegal and corrupt characters in this story, because they are "struggling actors". Would three precinct detectives really have time to waste listening to this drivel?
Yes, we have great acting by Richard Basehart and Robert Walker (is Basehart the father who deserted his family, or what?). But the lame story-line, and the annoying Libby is just too much.
This story goes nowhere, ends nowhere. 5 Stars is all I can rate this poorly scripted show.
