Incredible performance.

Not here to review the entire two part episode, just wanted to comment on the performance of Annie Corley. Playing the mother of a murdered child, Ms Corley reaches a level of heart wrenching agony, more powerful and more realistic than anything I've ever seen on any screen, anywhere. Those few minutes we see her on the street where her child was found, is nothing short of stunning. I don't think she won an Emmy for this, probably wasn't even nominated, but I dare anyone to watch her and not be genuinely moved.

The best episodes of the series. Incredible acting all around. Well written story. This is TV at its best.

Performances of excruciating intensity

Warning: Spoilers
I've never seen another film or television episode that had the courage to depict the emotions we see here. If you have lost a loved one to murder or experienced rape as a child, what you see is the honest truth. It may be too much for some.

Was the Setup Too Much?

Warning: Spoilers
When Israel kills himself, we have to ask ourselves whether his actions that were setting up the real murderer didn't drive him to his death. This is probably so because Andy is beside himself. A quality episode of a quality show. The woman who plays the mother may seem over the top to some people, but let's face it, we find that her character has been stifled and abused by a monster for many years. Diane's methods were awesome and slowly moved the husband toward his final dramatic speech.

I seem to be shockingly out of the mainstream,

The guy who played the husband was bad, but the woman who played the wife was colossally awful. I was embarrassed just watching. In a two-part episode where the actors needed to maintain a high level of intensity for an extended period of time, neither was up to the task from virtually their first seconds on the screen. The only reason I gave this episode two stars was because the guy who played the insurance-scam doctor was funny,

A real lemon in a series that typically had top notch guest stars..
