Where do you run when there's : Nowhere to Run
smooth_op_8512 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Russ Woody does a great job capturing both Murphy Brown and Miles Silverburg flawlessly.

Murphy is on the trail of two Nazis from WW2 and Miles has her assigned to a report with mob connections. Miles insists that she take the story. However, when people start following Miles and he receives his first death threat:

NOT VERBATIM BUT CLOSE ENOUGH Miles: They wanted me to drop the report or they'd kill me

Murphy: But i'm doing the report

Miles: I told them that, but they watch you on TV and they're old fashioned about killing women

After a while, things boil up until the night of the broadcast and no one has seen Miles! They worry but Miles says that he should broadcast it because that's what they do. It's onward with the broadcast and all is well. The man's arrested and it'll be the 8th season by the time he gets out

A story that's a real pain in the asp.
mark.waltz24 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
No that's not Marjorie Main. As Fran Ryan (who plays an informant known as the asp) would say when asked if she was Ma Kettle, "Yes, and I died 25 years ago." Murphy's got a lot to deal with, particularly a secretary who's only English knowledge is "Sure, fine. No problem." miles sets her up with the informant to get information on the mob and ultimately, Miles ends up getting threatened with his life in order to prevent the story from going on the air. Phil gets to flirt with Ryan (a veteran sitcom actress), a very funny scene. The situation with the first secretary wouldn't get past the script today, but it is indeed comical, a reflection of how personnel departments were back then, topped by her seemingly perfect replacement. This episode has it all, mixing comedy and intrigue, as well as an "Evita" reference.
