The title refers to the illegal electioneer practice of providing votes for candidates based upon the obituaries, public death rolls or from cemeteries to bolster one candidate over the other.

Guest star Marie Windsor had four decades previously been screen castmates with "Murder, She Wrote" lead Angela Lansbury in The Three Musketeers (1948) in which Windsor had an uncredited but conspicuous role as lady-in-waiting to Lansbury's Queen Anne. Windsor would subsequently guest star in Who Killed J.B. Fletcher? (1991).
