The fact is that these specials were national events - if you'd ever wanted to drive at high speed round our very own M25 without meeting any traffic - Christmas day when everyone was watching the show would have been your time (Of course the M25 didn't exist in 1973 - but you could have tried the M1)
I do miss these two guys - not only for their gentle but often very clever comedy - but also the fact that when you watched them - up to half the nation would be watching with you.
