Broadcast no. 43 (Nov 20 1967), "A Coffin Too Frequent" shows the group straining to get laughs on weak material. The wonderful George Furth, previously seen in "One Man Shy," plays Henry, who plans to conduct a phony séance in The Monkees' home to raise the spirit of Mrs. Weatherspoon's late husband Elmer. Future LAUGH-IN star Ruth Buzzi is on hand as the widow, and Mickey Morton (from STAR TREK's "The Gamesters of Triskelion") looks the part as Boris (dancing with Davy), but there's no story to speak of, and the group are showing the signs of boredom (the final appearance of Nesmith's familiar wool hat). The two songs featured are both sides of the current 45, "Goin' Down" (the first airing of the single version), and "Daydream Believer" (in its third airing).
