I Had a Secret
JordanThomasHall19 February 2020
While at Duke University, Sam runs into an old friend, Pete Winslow (Gary Crosby- son of Bing), who is now working for NASA. He is on a tightly-scheduled government tour exhibiting moon rocks. Sam talks him into dropping by Mayberry to show Howard the space curiosities. Pete insists it must remain a secret, as it is unscheduled. Goober overhears the heads-up phone call to Howard, however, and learns the secret that moon rocks are coming to town. Goober doesn't keep his secret for long- telling two stuck up, boasting Weber City men with Emmett overhearing. Word spreads quick. Sam decides to call off Pete's visit, disappointing everyone. Goober unsuccessfully tries to trick the two men from Weber City with some of Howard's geological rocks. The rivalrous Weber City's newspaper paints the situation in a bad light, prompting an unlikely source to try and smooth things out.

There's some funny moments thanks to George Lindsey's Goober.

Classic TAGS Don Knotts episode weakly redone.
vitoscotti17 December 2023
MRFD has redone numerous TAGS color (seasons 6-8) episodes. This is the first time they've ever had the nerve to copy a classic Don Knotts episode. It was lame until an ok ending. Sam again meets an old chum out of the blue. Bing's son Gary Crosby certainly worked a lot. Bing had ownership in a lot of movie and TV studios back durng this time.

The original episode not only had the brilliant ensemble cast but brilliant supporting actors. Here the one and done actors were very bland. The episode had very little humor like the TAGS gold truck shipment episode it copied.

Goober, Howard, and Emmett tried to inject a little humor but mostly failed until Goober the cop livened things up a little. An episode fit to see once to satisfy curiosity but not ever watch again.
