While playing basketball with Howard and Goober, Sam suggests they start riding bicycles to stay in shape. Howard suggests forming a club that goes riding in the country each weekend. They feel they shouldn't mention it to an older Emmett due to the strenuous nature. Millie innocently tells Emmett about the club and he storms to angrily confront the other three. He defends his stamina and health and the others apologize and welcome him into their "Mayberry Red Devils" club. On their first outing they pace way ahead of Emmett and finish lunch before he reaches them. They decide to turn back from there and wait in Mayberry into the night before Emmett makes it back. He's sore the next day but determined to join them the next Saturday. Emmett lags behind again, but flags down a friend to secretly transport him in his truck to get ahead of the others. They soon catch on, but realize Emmett's pride won't let him quit the club, and the strain. They ponder a creative resolution, but Emmett unknowingly is as well.
