A Matter of Principle
JordanThomasHall11 October 2019
Mike gets in trouble at school for something he says he didn't do- copying a girl's answers. He almost completes writing "I will not peak" 100 times on the board and must finish it the next day. Sam feels for the principle of it, he shouldn't have to since he is innocent. While driving Aunt Bee in Mount Pilot, Sam is pulled over by a ticket-happy police officer, George Hopkins (Don Wilbanks). The officer says he failed to give a turn signal, but Sam and Aunt Bee are insistent that he did. Sam says it would be easier for him to just pay the $5 than missing a half-day of work and travel to Mount Pilot. Aunt Bee- "Sam, the rightful course of American justice should never be ignored." She implores Sam to fight it and Mike reminds him of what he told him. A court case is held where Sam fights for his honor with an unexpected revelation.

The epitome of a bland TV episode

"Mayberry RFD" at it's very worst. Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier) in the fabric shop, and Goober Pyle (George Lindsey) displayying his car electrical system knowledge supplied a little humor. Sam Jones (Ken Berry) seemed to struggle with the weak script. All the non main actors performances were very forgettable.

The sun making the turn indicator difficult to see was ridiculous. It had just been clearly seen in the sun multiple times when tested earlier in the episode. Also, ridiculous that a judge would leave the courtroom to view the turn signal ight.

Good to see classic sitcoms regular Bill Quinn as the judge.
