A bit different murder in this case
bdosher-5665231 August 2020
A bit creepy when you think about it, Ben is not feeling good staying in a hotel across from a home and was looking out the window when he viewed what he thought was a fight between a man and woman, except he sees her husband come home and a shadowy figure goes out a back door just before the man walks in the house. Without giving away who did this, the murderer was not mad at her , but killed her because he was trying to get back at someone who blamed for a accidental death several years before. This one , since Ben is a witness, his daughter defends the husband who is charged with the crime, it all comes together in court at the end

I'm not a peeper! Lol.

Warning: Spoilers
Poor Ben. He's not feeling well but goes to a hotel for a wedding with Leanne. He's running a fever, on medication, didn't go to the wedding, and spends some time out on the balcony where he spots what appears to be a man and woman fighting. Later in the night, another man comes home, and at the same time, there is a shadowy figure he spots running out of the side door of the house. The next day he finds out there was a murder. Except the man arrested for the murder isn't the man he saw arguing with the woman.

I had to laugh so hard when people, including Leanne, say he was peeping, and Ben would get so angry shouting, "I'm not a peeper!" Even on the stand when he was a witness. He was so offended. Lol.

Why did Leanne sort of roll her eyes when Ben wanted to report what he saw? Isn't that supposed to be the right the do when you are a potential witness? The DA and police didn't even bother to follow up on what Ben saw tho. Shame on them.

Ben gets Leanne to defend the man accused who is the husband of the woman. He can't because he is a witness.

Kind of a stunning disclosure when we find out who the real killer is and the motivations behind it.

The best parts of this are Ben. As usual. He's so much fun. From him being sick and cranky, to him being all messy-haired getting up in the middle of the night, to him being offended by being called a peeper. To his and Leanne's gin game in which Ben keeps losing. This is all meant to be funny. They really played up Ben's charming, cranky, cute, funny personality on this show. Done so well by Andy Griffith. 8/10.
