When Naomi and Vint come home from a dinner at one of her friends' home, she is upset because she can't invite her friends to have dinner at her home. Well, she gets Mama to make the dinner and pays for a night out at the movies with Fran and the kids. Of course, Fran wants to see Gandhi while Mama wants to see E.T. All is going to plan when Mama's back goes out. She can't move and remains on the living room floor when the guests arrive. Only two couples who make bad jokes and help Mama eat the home-cooked dinner. Of course, Naomi sees this event as impending disaster of a party. Of course with Mama on the floor with her back out, the two couples are obviously uncomfortable and Mama makes some wicked comments regarding Needa who is bit of a snob. There is Marsue played by Micole Mercurio, what a stage name. Anyway sometimes things doesn't go according to plan.

I love this tv series. The characters,the writing and stories,the plots and directing are almost always very-good,and funny too. Of course some episodes are better than others,but there are very-few dud or dog episodes.
This episode is unusually,glaringly,bad,all-because of the outrageously selfish and childish behavior of Mama. The Mama character pretty-much always takes the high-road and she is the voice of reason amongst her wacky relatives. All of the family members have their little quirks and problems which they take-turns acting-out over the course of all of the many different episodes. The situations are usually quite-relatable for the most part.
Here we have the rare occasion of Mama,herself,taking a turn at being the problem-character of the episode. Basically,Mama tries her best to be a royal pain in the behind while making herself the center-of-attention at an important dinner-party that Naomi has planned for some important friends of hers. The dinner party is ruined by Mama!
Her family really didn't deserve the all of the headaches and embarassment that Mama shoveled and heaped onto them.
I must say,the family exercised some amazing restraint in dealing with her ridiculous behavior,hat's off to all of them!
As bad as Mama's behavior was,I suppose that after all that she herself has put-up with from her family over the many years,she deserved a chance to 'return the favor' to her needy and troublesome family.
At the same time,it is hard to watch,and hard to imagine that the rest of the family didn't come-up with some-sort of an effective solution to all of her sefishness and vanity. Sheesh ! 🤡 6/10.
