When's the war going to end?

A Vietnam themed story, "The Last Page" deals with the sensitive subject of soldiers coping with life after the battlefield.

The black and white flashbacks from early in the first season are long gone. This episode begins with a 'Nam-based incident that still haunts Taylor Hurst (Robert F. Lyons) eleven years later.

Joanna Kerns plays the wife of Hurst's friend who was killed in Vietnam. This is the first appearance of Kerns in the series; she plays another character in Season 3.

Magnum's rubber chicken (and this isn't some kind of strange euphemism) makes its third (?) appearance in the series.

Solid. 8 out of 10.

Guest starring Joanna Kerns

Warning: Spoilers
A few years before Joanna Kerns made it big in Growing Pains (which starred Kirk Cameron, who later became a Christian), she guest starred in The Last Page. I must admit, I do prefer the Magnum episodes that are on the streets amidst the crowds as it has that authentic look.

Anyway, here the Vietnam War lives on and on, and this episode debuted the same year that First Blood debuted, which kind of pushed the Vietnam War to the forefront on a pop culture level, and Magnum, P. I. led the way in a mature way kind of. Also, Joanna Kerns looks like Caren Kaye, who starred in My Tutor.

I'm enjoying catching up on the early seasons of Magnum, P. I., along with Father Brown.
