"MacGyver" has always been derivative. This time it's prescient, less Indiana Jones and more "National Treasure," which wouldn't come out for more than ten years after this episode.
"MacGyver" tried to be all things to all viewers. One week he'd be in comedy vein, the next doing a mission for the Phoenix foundation, the next he'd be all social conscience (polemics). This time it's an old fashioned adventure, just one darn thing after another, and even doing Indiana's big, round Rock one better.
MacGyer, a rude professor and the professor's daughter are looking for the tomb of Alexander the Great. Not really lost; more, misplaced. It's in Alexandria. Egypt. Somewhere. Somewhere not as snowy as it is with these people. Still, it's a good, old fashioned adventure.
