Back to Some Serious Issues
Hitchcoc6 March 2015
There are two pretty serious things going on here. A young man is brought into the camp suffering from paralysis. There seems to be nothing wrong with him physically, but something has happened to him on the battlefield. Hawkeye calls Sidney Friedman and he suggests a tough love approach to this guy. It is out of character for Pierce to use these techniques on anyone except maybe Frank. Speaking of Frank, he and Margaret are their usual obstructionist selves.

The second plot has to do with Radar being bitten by a camp dog and being forced to undergo a series of rabies shots. Everyone looks for the dog because the shots have a really serious effect on Radar. There are some nice scenes between Margaret and Radar as she reads a letter to him. Sometimes it is nice to soften the edges of the villains. Margaret will be developed a lot more in the future of this series.

Warning: Spoilers
Mad Dogs and Servicemen is from season three of M*A*S*H, and it's hard to believe it debuted 50 years ago, yes half-a-century ago, and the series lives on and on. I'm a huge M*A*S*H fan, having watched I think every episode at least once. Here Radar gets bitten by a rabid dog, and it's all hands on deck to find the dog. Arthur Song plays the Korean Man, and Jeff Maxwell returns as Pvt. Igor Straminsky. In 2018 he and superfan Ryan Patrick launched the M*A*S*H Matters podcast, and one of the stars he interviewed was Kellye Nakahara, who also starred in this episode. Jeff and Ryan also interviewed the son of Roy Goldman.
