- Hawkeye and Trapper apologize to Korean medical assistant, Kwang (Soon-Taik Oh), on behalf of the entire U.S. for Frank Burns. Frank gets on Kwang's case for his own ineptitude. Frank keeps getting things wrong in the OR and blames Kwang for his own mistakes. Frank is also biased against Kwang since he is a Korean.
Trapper and Hawkeye invite Kwang for a drink and find that he was a medical student, when he was forcibly drafted into the war. The medical officer at the draft board saw his surgical potential and assigned him to the 4077th. The Swamp Rats learn Kwang is about to be a father and his wife is in enemy country so they try to arrange a 3-day pass. They get Radar to get Henry to issue a 3 day pass for Kwang. Private McShane (Dennis Dugan) is trying to marry a Korean girl Soong Hi who Hawkeye and Trapper recognize as a B-girl (she works at Rosie's bar). They try to talk McShane out of marriage, but he is intent. McShane says Soong Hi is 21 yrs old, and Hawkeye says her make up is older than that. McShane agrees to wait for 2 weeks to prove he is really in love with Soong Hi.
There are all types of business going on at the 4077. Zale and Radar lean on Trapper and Hawkeye that enlisted men have no rights in the army (after Zale loses a rich hand in poker to Hawkeye. He says officers live better, eat better and have their way with the nurses) and Mcshane should be allowed to marry whomever he wants to. Enlisted men aren't even allowed to fall in love. Franks busts Kwang when he tries to leave camp and calls his 3 day pass a forgery. Kwang runs away when Frank fires a shot in his direction and now Frank wants Henry to assign Kwang as a deserter. The MPs arrest Kwang and bring him back. Henry wont issue a new pass but agrees to drop the desertion charges, so Hawkeye and Radar decide to go to Kwang's village and bring his wife to MASH 4077, so the family can be together at childbirth.
The guy with the "Parker Brothers diploma," Dr. Pak (Jerry Fujikawa) (who does phony operations with fake stitches and uses hair cream for penicillin) tries to bribe the Swamp Rats ($250 each) to pass McShane's fiancee on her physical. Dr Pak, is a marriage broker and offers $250 each to Hawkeye and Trapper to pass the physical of the B girl McShane wants to marry. He also says that McShane is being paid $1000 to marry the girl, who will go to the US, earn money as a prostitute and send it back to Korea to Dr Pak. They chase Dr Pak out. Trapper confronts McShane who admits to the scam, but justifies it saying the enlisted men are also entitled to profit from the war. But then his fiance has a TB in her X-ray and he scam is busted.
Mrs Kwang is being transported back, but gives birth in the bus while on the way to 4077. Radar has a traumatic experience and faints. The baby is named Radar Benjamin Franklin Trapper John Henry Kwang.
