The Ranger and Tonto's old friend Barnaby Boggs has a traveling emporium on wheels and is partners with Swami Yoganto, who tells fortunes free for anyone who buys more than $3 worth of goods from Barnaby. But Barnaby doesn't know that The Swami also secretly hypnotizes his victims and uses the information he extracts from them to have his henchmen rob them. The Ranger and Tonto's old friend, prospector Hardrock Hazen, falls prey to Yoganto and is wounded by one of the henchmen. Dan Reid also encounters the Swami while buying supplies from Barnaby. The Ranger and Tonto find Hardrock are puzzled by how the robbers knew just where Hardrock had his gold hidden. By closely questioning Hardrock and Dan, and then talking to Barnaby, The Ranger figures out what is going on. Proving it involves The Ranger disguising himself as a rich easterner who sounds a lot like W. C. Fields.
The Swami is played by Lou Krugman, who resembles Basil Rathbone. In his Swami getup, he looks just like Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes when Holmes disguised himself as an Indian (from India) in the 1944 movie, "Sherlock Holmes and the Spider Woman."
This is Chuck Courtney's 15th and last appearance as Dan Reid. He had a long career as a stuntman and western actor. He was one of the best in Hollywood at riding horses and using six guns. Sadly, after a series of strokes, he committed suicidal at the age of 69.
