As Jim Kelly and Dora Hand prepare to wed, Jim Rellance from Texas hopes to marry the older Dora. Dora tells him to find a younger girl and Earp tells him to leave Dodge City. However, he returns but not with the impact he hoped for.
Earp rides out to present his wedding gift to Jim Kelly and Dora Hand the day before their wedding. While there, Bob Rellance arrives hoping to convince Dora to marry him instead of the older Kelly. Dora tells him to find a younger girl his own age followed by Kelly starting a fight with him. Dora calls Earp who breaks up the fight and sends Bob packing with orders to leave town. Earp and Sherrif Bassett followup with it appearing Rellance has left town to return to Texas. That night after a dinner for Kelly they leave Dora with a female friend at her house. That night Rellance sneaks back and sees Dora with what appears to be Kelly trying on his wedding coat and hat but in reality is her checking them out on a mannequin. Rellance shoots killing Dora. Earp along with Bassett and his deputy Bill Tillman track down Rellance. Earp wounds Rellance causing him to be paralyzed. His trial is moved based on a request for a change of venue.—Anonymous
