NO surprise that Richard Baer wrote this episode. Baer wrote two episodes for the series, an over the top writer, who wrote for such shows as BEWITCHED and the MUNSTERS. Wacky comedy.
This is also another famous teen episode, the proverbial exercise in fads. You may recall an episode about Wally's greasy, slick 50s hair style. This time it's all about Wally's new hipster 50s suit, which was an obvious take-off on rock star Bill Haley (ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK) and his Comets. Haley was a flashy dresser on tv (his trademark), a wild style and fad that originated in the 40s.
I agree with the last reviewer, as this was filmed in black and white, so we do not know the color scheme. However, it's probably loud as heck, with all colors of the rainbow!
Naturally, Ward and June are NOT impressed, highly, highly recommending an ASAP switch to conservative black or gray. The force behind it all is
the one and only Eddie Haskell. It truly is amazing, how Wally and Eddie actually became close friends, although its common knowledge that opposites attract.
The nagging question we always love to ask; why doesn't Eddie ever take his own advice? We've all had friends who were so convincing at changing us, but never themselves! It would have been a neat twist had Wally talked Eddie into walking around town with a lampshade on his head!!!
As usual, young Beave is priceless as the unofficial observer of the fashion faux paus, and watch his expressions.
Another gem from SEASON 2 remastered dvd box set.
