This was the first of seven episodes to air after the death of Victor French. This one aired the day after he died.
An in-joke occurs when Jonathan and Mark visit the Hollywood star of Michael Landon, to which Mark says Landon is a famous actor who appeared in Little House on the Prairie (1974) and Jonathan responds that he "never heard of him". Both of the actors in the scene (Victor French and Michael Landon) starred in Little House on the Prairie and Landon (who plays Jonathan) is obviously standing in front of his own Hollywood star.
This was the first episode to air following the tragic death from lung cancer of the series co-star Victor French.
French was 54 years old at the time of his death. Series star Michael Landon passed away from pancreatic cancer two years later in 1991, also at the age of 54.
Michael Landon was interred in Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles, alongside stars such as Al Jolson, Jack Benny, David Janssen and Vic Morrow.
Actor John Milford appeared in 3 episodes of Bonanza with Michael Landon. He passed away in 2000 of skin cancer.
