He-Man's second episode...wait (maybe) there is more than it seems... Warning: Spoilers
Note: Even when I normally try to keep my spoilers low, in order to make this review more interesting, I had to reveal a pair of details that happen later in the story, and even when they are not crucial, maybe you would like to take a look at subsequent episodes like "The Witch and the Warrior" , also "The Energy Beast" and more importantly "The Rainbow Warrior", before reading this review ... (actually, this way you will also enjoy it much more!!!)

EPISODE 2: "THE SHAPING STAFF"

A GOOD OLD HE-MAN's EPISODE WITH SOME INTERESTING DETAILS TO ANALYZE...

The Shaping Staff is a good old He-Man's episode for many reasons: We can see a classical plot in this series in which Skeletor and his people are trying to get or in this case, already have, a new magical instrument that they will use against the heroes. We also have Orko playing a major role even when he is very small and many of his magic tricks don't work as they should. He have also some goofs as when we see that Orko (in that moment a cricket) has already gone to the upper part of the palace and talked to Adam and nevertheless we see a vision of him as if he had returned to the dungeons and placed himself into King Randor's cell.

Apart from all that fun stuff, I think there some very interesting things to notice in this episode. One thing concerning this very early episode in the series, is that differently to what happens later in the story, Evil-lyn seems to be completely devoted to Skeletor and happy about it, and Beast Man even when he is not ever the smartest character is not depicted as a complete fool (good for him!) . Also, if we pay attention in some of the first scenes, we see that that when everybody is quarreling with Adam about where he was, Queen Marlena says a commentary that seems to want to deviate the attention from the subject, which is maybe consistent to future episodes when we become almost sure that Marlena has already known about Adam's secret for some time. You may want to see "The Energy Beast" and "The Rainbow Warrior" about this.

Thanks for reading.
