Hancock the bullfighter
ShadeGrenade31 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Hancock is unhappy with the 'acting' jobs his agent Sid has recently been getting him. They all involve him standing outside an Indian restaurant in a Turban, trying to look exotic. Sid tells Tony he is unemployable - once people have seen his stand-up comedy act, they do not want to see it again. He suggests that he and Hancock go to Europe where he is unknown. There is just one problem - Hancock cannot speak any language other than English. An interpreter is used. The next time he goes on stage in Spain, all his jokes are translated into Spanish. The interpreter winds up getting the laughs and applause while Tony is ignored...

One of the last 'Hancock's Half-Hour' episodes of the '50's, and good it is too though not up to the standard of 'The Blood Donor' or 'The Economy Drive'. Once again Sidney 'Balmoral' James is a conniving shyster whose schemes Hancock falls for each time. Ronnie Brody, who plays the English bullfighter, was later a regular in 'Dave Allen At Large'.

Funniest moment - Hancock. dressed as a matador, prepares to face an audience. Of course Sid has not told him he will be facing a bull instead. Hancock goes through the door, which Sid quickly bolts. A moment later, Tony pounds on it, demanding to be let back in!
