Another Baby Episode?
Gomer Pyle USMC already had a baby episode back in season one. Why have another one? Bad idea. Especially since I don't like baby episodes on TV shows. One was too many for me. And another one is just ridiculous. In one scene Gomer is gleefully rubbing the bottom of the totally naked baby boy. What is this a diaper commercial?! That's gross. Yuck.
Another Marine and his wife ask Gomer to babysit so they can go visit her sick mother in San Francisco. They fly up there and when they try to fly back fog sets in and they can't fly. So they decide to drive back. But Gomer has to be back to the base by 5:30 am. If he waits for the parents he's going to be AWOL and so he takes the baby back to the base with him. That's the set up.
Sgt. Hacker thinks that Sgt. Carter has an ulcer when Carter asks for "warm milk and strained potatoes". So that part of it is funny.
I'm not going to totally trash this episode because there are some funny moments, but it's just not my cup of tea and so I can't give it a rating any higher than "5". If you love babies and just can't resist them you'll probably love this episode. I'm not a baby kind of guy. Gomer loves babies. I don't. I didn't even like babies when I was one myself. I wanted to get the whole thing over with and start chasing girls.
