Cutrate CONTROL

Warning: Spoilers
Another good script from the team of Gardner and Carusco has CONTROL facing a series of budget cutbacks. Max has to turn in all his secret weapons. The Chief's desk and other office decorations are being repossessed. 99 is no where to be seen in this one (perhaps she's already been laid off!) At a congressional subcommittee hearing run by Dietrich (radio's Harry Bartell, the announcer on the old "Sherlock Holmes" radio show with Rathbone and Bruce) Max and the Chief testify, to no good results. KAOS hears CONTROL is in financial trouble and Siegfried tries to recruit Max to come over to the dark side. Max agrees, to find out who in the government is a top KAOS spy. He has to go through spy school and then has a nice moment drinking with Siegfried as they reminisce about the times they tried to kill each other. Bernie Koppell is in top form, even without the assistance of Schtarker. The ending of this episode is kind of obvious, but as a whole the episode works.
