During this episode, Richard Kimble dreams (in a flashback) of his original encounter with the one-armed man, running from the direction of Kimble's house. Dr. Kimble enters his home and see his wife lying on a floor, dead. This is the same scene shown in the opening credits throughout the series, but this time, actress Janis Paige is substituted as the deceased Helen Kimble instead of actress Diane Brewster, who played Helen throughout the series. The premise of the plot of this episode is that Janis Paige's character, singer Hallie Martin, bears a striking resemblance to Kimble's dead wife.
Writer George Eckstein named the characters of Hallie and Nora Martin after his daughters, actress Hallie Todd and acting teacher Nora Eckstein.
When Johnny ordered Hallie Martin to go on stage and perform to his sold-out audience, she sarcastically said to him, "I was just going, Mr. Ziegfeld."
Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. was an American Broadway impresario, notable for his series of theatrical revues, the Ziegfeld Follies.
Adjusted for inflation, the $15 Kimble claims he needs would equal approximately $140 in the year 2022.
This is the second of four appearances Noam Pitlik makes in this series. He shows up again in Taps for a Dead War (1964), Landscape with Running Figures: Part 1 (1965), and The Blessings of Liberty (1966). He was a prolific character actor, as well as a TV producer and director, contributing his behind-the-camera talents to multiple productions, in particular to Barney Miller (1975) for which he produced or directed well over 100 episodes.
