This episode marks the changing of Monica's apartment from #5 to #20. This change was made after the producers, writers, and scenic team decided that #5 would be much closer to the ground in the theoretical layout of the apartment building. Monica's apartment - by virtue of the iconic views from the windows and balcony - would stand on the third floor, at least. The apartment is likely on a floor higher due to the friends' sightlines when viewing neighbors and street activity from the balcony. This change also means that Chandler and Joey's apartment number would be moved from #4 to #19.
First mention of Chandler's dad being gay with the comment "If I turn into my parents, I'll either be an alcoholic blonde chasing after twenty-year-old boys, or... I'll end up like my mom."
Robert Costanzo and Lee Garlington who play Joey Sr. and Ronni respectively, both appear as an on screen couple. They would go on to play another on-screen couple nine years later, Annette and Paul D'Angelo, the parents of Will Truman's boyfriend, Vince, in the Queens for a Day: Part 1 (2004).
Brenda Vaccaro and Lee Garlington both appear in an episode of The Golden Girls
