Mr. Ingrams, one of the guests, was named after the television reviewer for "The Spectator", Richard Ingrams, who was an early critic of the show when it began in 1975. Ingrams' appraisal was quite caustic. John Cleese got his revenge in this episode when Mr Ingrams was found in his room with a blow-up doll.
In a 1999 interview, John Cleese said that he had asked the manager of The Savoy what the worst problem was for a hotelier. The manager said it was dealing with guests that died. Cleese named the corpse "Mr. Leeman" in honor of the Savoy manager.
Dr Price's line "I'm a doctor and I want my sausages!" is the favourite line of Andrew Sachs in the whole show.
